In the course of my work I get to visit many strange and wonderful places, and in 2000 I made three week-long visits to Albania.  I was actually there to examine the remains of Albania's programme of uranium mining exploration activities (not as dull as it sounds, by the way), but I also got to know the place (particularly the capital city Tirana) and the people very well.
