Georgetown

( HomeWashington → House )

The Old Stone House is located in Georgetown, and is the oldest standing building in Washington DC, having been built originally in 1765.  The house (to my eyes) sits rather uncomfortably among the more modern buildings of the area, though the pleasant gardens provide some very welcome relief from the noise and traffic!

The Old House is very quaint amid the modern buildings

Reminds me of many country houses here in England

The gardens are pleasant too

A bit of peace and quiet in a big city

Standing here you could be in the countryside, rather than in the city!
