This is the final diary entry of the year
before I go on holiday to Yorkshire. I'm off from work
now and don't go back until the 3rd January, and I'm really
looking forward to some quiet time and the chance to
recharge the batteries. I haven't made any New Year
resolutions, but I will give those some thought over the
next few days. Anyway Merry Christmas to all those who
read this and there will be more diary entries next year! |
| 19/12/06 |
I learned today the reason why the
meeting at Berkeley was cancelled - it seem that today was
the Xmas lunch at Berkeley. That's the consultant's
lot in life - we have to cancel our own Xmas lunch to meet
the expectations of our customers, but they don't worry about cancelling meetings with us for their Xmas lunch.
Never mind, I cheered myself up by booking my holiday in NC
for this May. I can't wait to get there! |
| 18/12/06 |
It seems that I've managed to get out of
going to Berkeley tomorrow, which in one sense is a good
thing (more time to do other project work) and in one sense
it's a bad thing (I enjoy my trips to the coast and was
going to take some photos). Had a nice email yesterday
from an old email buddy of mine wishing me a happy Xmas.
It was good to hear from her and nice to know that someone
cares - unlike some who only give a damn about their own
happiness. |
| 15/12/06 |
Had today off and had a very pleasant
morning looking around two local towns, Cholsey and Goring.
For lovers of trivia, Cholsey is where Agatha Christie is
buried. Took some lovely photos too, including a swan in close-up.
Otherwise a totally lazy day, and I look forward to more of
the same this weekend! |
| 14/12/06 |
Well I didn't have to go to that meeting
on Wednesday after all, which was a relief as it gave me a
chance to catch up with other stuff after missing work on
Friday. Instead I have to go to Berkeley on Tuesday
next week, and this time I'm determined to take some photos!
Heard a wonderful song earlier this evening, called "Fix
You" by Coldplay. I couldn't get hold of it from
Limewire, so I suppose I'm going to have to spend money and
buy the CD! That's not so bad though, I spent plenty
of money today buying Christmas presents, so a few more
pounds won't hurt. LOL. |
| 11/12/06 |
It's just as well that I recovered from
my cold over the weekend, as I have a hard week ahead.
I may or may not be going to an important meeting on
Wednesday - must make a mental note to check tomorrow!
Otherwise all is quiet here, apart from plenty of work to be
done ... oh well, at least it makes the week pass by
quickly! Off up to Yorkshire for a week on the 23rd,
and am looking forward to that break and to getting some
nice photos. |
| 08/12/06 |
Not feeling so good today, so had the day
off. I think I have a cold coming or something like
that. That wouldn't surprise me as plenty of folk at
work have them. It's very bad timing as today was the
Serco Christmas lunch, so I had to miss out on that. I
hope I'm feeling better tomorrow, as I was planning to go
out on a photography expedition to produce some more web
pages. maybe a good night's sleep will help. |
| 06/12/06 |
Long hard day today and I'm just about
ready for my bed. It was a good day though and we made
some nice progress in a big meeting, and sent the
customer home happy. Had just enough energy now to add
some new web pages, which was something I've been intending
to do for a while now. I'm going to watch Manchester
United vs. Benfica on TV and then I think I will have an
early night. |
| 05/12/06 |
Sad day today, as I parted company with
someone I've known for a long time now. But L darling, in the
unlikely event that you ever read this, I think you know in
your heart that life has moved on and this was inevitable.
I also hope you realise just how much pleasure I got from
knowing you over the last few years. It takes a lot to
impress a nerdy geek like me, but you managed it big time.
I'm very happy for you, and congratulations on the marriage
proposal! I should say that I felt bad about recently
saying goodbye to some of my other buddies (except for K -
you know who you are you insincere bitch), but time moves
on. Anyway, I have an important meeting tomorrow
so time for bed, I think. |
| 03/12/06 |
Well I did get a nice peaceful weekend,
and went out on Saturday afternoon to take some photos of
Broadway (in the Cotswolds) for some new web pages in the
future. My father had a diagnosis on his bad legs,
apparently it's constricted arteries, and will need surgery.
Still having various thoughts about an old friend of mine,
only time will tell about how that resolves itself - one way
or the other. |
| 01/12/06 |
Wow, the end of a very busy week for me.
Still, it turned out to be productive and I did get some
projects finished and delivered on time to my customers.
Looks like an old friend of mine and I might have resolved
some issues that existed between us, and that's good news.
I'm looking forward to a nice peaceful weekend, that's for
sure! |
| 29/11/06 |
Well, there was some doubt as to whether
I was going to have to make a trip to Berkeley today, but in
the end it turned out that I didn't, which was just as well
as it gave me an extra day to finish off some projects for
work. We have a new starter in a few days and it will
fall to me to be her "mentor" and to try and teach her -
from scratch - about the basics of radiation and the work
that we do, so that she can make a contribution and help me
out. I'm looking forward to the challenge! |
| 25/11/06 |
Pretty dull weekend this one, except that
my father's health seems to be taking a turn for the worst -
he has a heart problem and now has great trouble walking, to
the extent that he now struggles to make even a short walk
to the local shops in Shipston. Hopefully the doctor
will be able to help this week when he goes to see him.
I sometimes wonder if my father has sufficient will to live
to see all these troubles through. I think the
following weeks will tell if this is true or not. |
| 23/11/06 |
Oh boy am I glad that this week is over.
It has seemed at times like one long roller coaster of hard
work, bad weather, expense and a little bit of emotion
thrown in as well. Things can only get better, and it
is worth remembering, at times like this, the old saying
that you have to know what the bad days feel like before you
can fully appreciate the good ones. |
| 23/11/06 |
Had to write a sad email to
someone today, but alas it had to be done. Sometimes
one can only take so much before deciding that enough is
enough. Tried to work from home this afternoon but got
called back in to talk to a potential new recruit. The
guy seemed very intelligent and I'm sure he would be an
asset to the department at work. |
| 22/11/06 |
Yes I did remember to take my car in for
its service, and it was interesting when I went to collect
it - there was about six police cars parked up the road, and
a police helicopter hovering low overhead. Wonder what
that was all about! Otherwise a very hectic day at
work, and I am feeling pretty tired right now. |
| 21/11/06 |
Interesting day today - I discovered from
a colleague that the person who gave me the telling off a
few days ago is well known for this. In fact, she was
responsible (at least in part) for another member of staff
resigning from Serco. Very interesting. Clearly
this woman has problems she needs to deal with. On
other matters, a friend of mine is on borrowed time - I
wonder if she realises this? Finally, I have to
remember to take my car in for a service tomorrow - will I
remember? LOL |
| 19/11/06 |
My brother's birthday today, so happy
birthday, Rob! Pretty uneventful weekend, though lots
of work to do next week so I will be quite busy, I think.
Listened to a tune that I haven't listened to for years last
night (The Shining by Badly Drawn Boy) and it reminded me of
the balmy days where I was involved with a certain woman.
In the unlikely event that she ever reads this she'll know
who she is, but it was nice to think back to those happy
days. |
| 17/11/06 |
Interesting start to today, as it turns
out that Youtube has deleted my account because of
complaints from the BBC about infringing copyright.
Sure, they're technically correct, of course, but it does
seem rather heavy handed since all I had were a few grainy
videos of performances that the BBC doesn't show any more,
and which brought a lot of pleasure to the people who viewed
them. Oh well, that's the way it goes. I nearly
ran over a lorry driver on the way into work this morning
(he had to dive out of the way), so that cheered me up a bit! |
| 15/11/06 |
Well I recovered from the shock of being
told off yesterday, and instead got some words of praise
from an important customer of ours. Things like that
more than make up for yesterday's events. Realised
that I have loads of work to do before the end of November,
trust me to finally deduce that where we're already half way
through the month! |
| 14/11/06 |
Managed to get told off at work today,
for apparently submitting an invoice to a customer to early,
and thereby violating all of the rules about sending
invoices. I sometimes think that these financial
people should get a life and chill out a bit - so the
invoice got sent out early? Well gee, talk about the
end of the universe! I don't think I will be losing
too much sleep over that, even if other people do ... |
| 12/11/06 |
A fun weekend as Rob and Wendy came down
to visit - and took my parents to see a Paul Simon concert!
We had all the usual fun when they came back and I ended up
drinking far too much - and am feeling it this morning.
Never mind, everyone's entitled to a bit of fun! LOL.
We had great fun looking back at home videos - I think Rob
rather enjoys seeing himself from years gone by! |
| 10/11/06 |
Well I had my interview yesterday, and I
think it went very well, apart from one or two things.
The trouble is, those "one or two things" are rather serious
and so I have withdrawn my application. It could be
said to be a case of better the devil you know than the
devil you don't. Actually, that's not strictly fair as
my current job is just fine. |
| 07/11/06 |
OK, so I have an interview set up for
this new job that I applied for. Thursday at 3 pm is
the time, and we will see how it goes. I note that one
of the interviewers is a guy that used to work for my
current company, and it will be interesting to see what he
has to say during the interview. On another matter, as
I'm writing this, there is a distinct smell of fart in the
air. I'm sure it's not me, so I will have to go and
investigate. LOL |
| 05/11/06 |
Today was Guy Fawkes day, and that meant
lots of very noisy and colourful firework displays over
here. The law has changed over here so that fireworks
cannot be let off after 11 pm at night, and to my amazement
everyone seems to be obeying that rule. There was a
beautiful sunset too, and I took some lovely photos of that.
The only downside is that the air is very still and calm,
and in central England that means only one thing -
pollution. The air here has a rather yucky chemical
smell to it right now. |
| 03/11/06 |
Interesting developments on my
application for a new job - it seems that someone at work
has found out and thinks I should tell my boss about it.
Surprisingly I agree, as my boss is someone I have great
respect for and would not want to let down. I have to
think of myself, though, and even though it sounds
paradoxical, this approach might be the best compromise,
should I find myself taking on the new job. |
| 01/11/06 |
Wow, first confirmation today that summer
has gone and winter
is on the way, as I had to scrape ice off the car before I
could drive in to work, and it will be the same tomorrow and
Friday. I think one of my penpals has been doing her
witchcraft and sending over this cold weather. She
knows who she is, and that I'll get her back for this!! LOL |
| 31/10/06 |
Had a very nice email today from a guy
who watched one of my Youtube videos, and was actually at
the concert! He wanted the original video for the
local museum, and I was happy to oblige. It seems the
local newspaper is going to run an article, which is rather
nice! Tonight is Halloween, and I must congratulate
the trick-or-treaters who came calling for at least looking
scary, unlike previous years. LOL. Also had
confirmation that will get an interview for the new job I've
applied for. |
| 29/10/06 |
Well, dog-sitting turned out not to be
too onerous but Tess is a hyper-active dog and didn't sit
still for the whole day, which got a bit annoying after a
bit! Got some modifications made to this website,
including a new page on Lyneham Long barrow, which I went to
see yesterday. Got back this evening to find that my
front door is now virtually impossible to open without
putting a shoulder to it - someone will have to come and
look at that tomorrow! |
| 27/10/06 |
Added two more pages to the website
today, with some photos of Blewbury and Enstone. I'm
dog-sitting for my parents this Sunday while they go down to
London to visit my aunt and cousin. Shouldn't be too
onerous, but I haven't decided how much to charge them for
this work as yet. LOL |
| 25/10/06 |
Had an acknowledgement email back from my
CV application, but nothing else to report on that so far.
Other than that, not very much to say about this week.
Never mind, boring days are not necessarily a bad thing - at
least nothing has gone wrong! |
| 18/10/06 |
Well I actually sent off my CV this
evening, and to my HORROR, when I looked at the covering
email that I sent, I spotted two spelling mistakes in the
first paragraph! It shouldn't make too much difference, but
of course it doesn't really look that good! |
| 17/10/06 |
Had a very interesting phone call today,
from the major company in the UK that deals with radioactive
waste disposal in the UK. They have a vacancy for a PA
specialist and they wanted to know if I would be interested
in applying. After some thought I have decided that
the answer is yes, as the job might have better
opportunities than the one I do now, so I will send off my
CV tonight and see what happens. |
| 15/10/06 |
Well I'm back from my holiday, and we had
a wonderful time! The weather was beautiful, the
scenery was beautiful, and the people friendly.
Perhaps the highlight of the holiday was visiting
Sandringham, which is one of the Queen's residences here in
England. The only downside was that the cottage we
stayed in had hundreds of flies in it, but the sight of my
mother running around trying to swat them was very comical! One noteworthy thing about Norfolk is how
flat it is, in total contrast to Exmoor. All in all, a
very good holiday and it is a shame to be back in Didcot
again. |
| 08/10/06 |
Off on holiday today, so no more entries
in the diary for a week or so. I've never been to
Norfolk before (in the east of England), and I hope the
weather stays fine! |
| 05/10/06 |
A very busy week so far, but right now I
think I have completed all of my obligations at work.
Had a nice trip to Berkeley today, though noting that
Berkeley is a nuclear power station, it is the people who
make the trip nice, rather than the surroundings! I'm
chilling out with a few ciders right now, and will get ready
for my holiday tomorrow. |
| 30/09/06 |
My parents went on holiday to Norfolk
this weekend (I'm joining them next weekend) and so I had
their house to myself for the weekend. Too bad they
didn't leave much food in the fridge! I had a great
Saturday evening, drinking wine and producing some more
music videos for the website. I wish I lived in a big
house all the time! LOL. Also, I took some
photos of Rob and Wendy's present to my mum (see below) and
might try to put something on the website to show it off. |
| 26/09/06 |
Today is my mother's 70th birthday, and
happy birthday, mum! Rob and Wendy produced the most
beautiful birthday present for her, a kind of photo album
that looks back on the most important people and events in
her life. A wonderful present. |
| 24/09/06 |
Well done to the Europe team for winning
the Ryder Cup! I was glued to the TV all weekend,
though I didn't expect the win to be so comprehensive.
The American team was much weaker than we were expecting,
and it was surprising to see Tiger perform so badly, but I'm
sure he'll be back on top form in the not-too-distant
future. |
| 21/09/06 |
Not much happening in the last week or
so, hence the lack of entries here in the diary. Lots
of work to do, though I'm off on holiday in a few weeks'
time, so that kind of makes me feel better! I'm off to
Norfolk, which is on the east coast of England, and that is
somewhere I've never been before. Norfolk is noted for
being very flat, in contrast to Exmoor, my favourite holiday
location, which is very hilly. |
| 14/09/06 |
Well I've had the last couple of
afternoons off from work, and have now finally got my
quantum mechanics pages online. I've also added some
new pages with photos of standing stones and monuments here
in England. I hope my viewers find it all interesting,
as I'm knackered after doing all that lot! |
| 11/09/06 |
Today is the fifth anniversary of 9/11.
Peace to all those who died on that day. |
| 08/09/06 |
A horrendously busy week for me at work
this week. Fist of all I had some contributions to
make to a proposal, and then I had to deliver a report today
with some important data in it. I'm so glad it's the
weekend and that I can chill out for a bit. |
| 03/09/06 |
We watched a 9/11 documentary on TV this
evening that was made by two French brothers who were
working with New York fire fighters. Their footage was
dramatic and stunning, and it made us all realise just what
a dreadful day that was. |
| 01/09/06 |
Something happened today that convinced
me I'm going mad. I parked my car in the car park, and
got out to go into the supermarket without bothering to
switch the engine off or lock the car. I only got a
few yards before I realised, but I was still embarrassed
about having to go back and turn the car off ... |
| 26/08/06 |
Rob and Wendy came to visit this weekend,
though we didn't have our usual boozy weekend as they were
out partying until 4 am on Saturday morning, and
understandably didn't feel like consuming huge amounts of
booze on consecutive nights! It was good to see them,
though. |
| 23/08/06 |
Annual leave again today, but this time I
did something useful. I've decided to add some pages
to this website that provide an introduction to quantum
mechanics for non-scientists, and I sketched out what I
wanted to say. I now have nine pages of handwritten
notes that need to be converted to text! |
| 22/08/06 |
Another day's leave for me, which I will
spend hanging around the house, and perhaps doing a few
chores that need doing. On the other hand, I might not
bother ... |
| 20/08/06 |
Two health scares for my parents this
weekend. My father had a heart scare (following a
nasty virus) and now has to take blood-thinning medicine.
My mother also had a scare following a mammogram, though in
the end the mark they found turned out to be nothing.
She's promised to be nice to everyone from now on, following
that scare! |
| 15/08/06 |
Went out to Oxford today and took plenty
of photos and had a great time. Oxford is such a
lovely city and so atmospheric. What with all the old
buildings and the "dreaming spires", Oxford might stake a
claim for being the most beautiful city in the world.
Cambridge and Bath might argue with me on that, though ... |
| 14/08/06 |
The first day of a few days holiday for
me. I'm just spending today bumming around at home,
and you know what, it feels great! I plan to go out
tomorrow though, as I hate to just waste holidays by sitting
at home and doing nothing. |
| 10/08/06 |
Quite a bit of news to report.
First of all, had an extraordinary email from a penpal of
mine, can't go into the details, but it's good to know that
she's now got something she's wanted for a long time!
Some friends of Melissa had a car crash a day ago, I will
keep my fingers crossed that they are all OK. They
sound in a bad way, but not life-threatening. The big
news today is the foiling of a plot to blow up aircraft
flying to the USA from the UK. Well done to our police
and intelligence services. |
| 04/08/06 |
Went out to see a
comparatively little-known ancient artefact known as the
Hoar Stone today. Located in Enstone in North
Oxfordshire, the Hoar Stone marks the remains of an ancient
burial tomb built some 4500 years ago. The site needs
some care and attention, and hopefully one day it will get
it. |
| 03/08/06 |
Had a business trip to
Berkeley today and got plenty done with the very nice crowd
that work down there. The only bad part of the day was
the awful sweet-and-sour pork that I had for lunch, I felt
bad for most of the afternoon and will make a mental note
not to have that again in a hurry. LOL. |
| 01/08/06 |
Happy birthday to me!
My 38th birthday today, and thanks to everyone who
remembered and sent me good wishes! I sometimes look
in the mirror and think I could knock a few years off, but
then I see the twenty-somethings at work and how young they
look compared to me, and I realise that I'm deluding myself! |
| 26/07/06 |
An exceptional heat wave
has hit the UK over the last few days, and today it reached
95 degrees F in the shade. Luckily I have an air
conditioner but conditions must be hell for those who don't
have one. Hopefully it will get cooler soon - and in
any case come January we will all be grumbling that it's too
cold! Also had two new tyres fitted to the car, for
the princely sum of £250. |
| 14/07/06 |
Had a day off from work
today and took the opportunity to go and visit White Horse
Hill and Wayland's Smithy, followed by the Wittenham Clumps
in the afternoon. The visit to White Horse Hill was
spoilt slightly by the arrival of a huge coach load of
tourists, but on the other hand it's nice that people want
to come and visit these places. |
| 09/07/06 |
Added some new web pages
to this site and had a bit of a play with the other site
today. Otherwise, a very quiet weekend, characterised
by the fact that it did very little other than rain. I
will be watching the World Cup final tonight, and I think I
will support the French to win. |
| 06/07/06 |
A bit of a stressful day
today as I had a meeting with an overseas visitor to talk
about things that I haven't worked on for some time, and at
one point I could feel beads of sweat running down my face!
I just hope I didn't look too stressed out in front of
Slavka! Luckily the weather has cooled down a bit,
which is very welcome. |
| 02/07/06 |
The weather here in the
south of England has really got hot in the last couple of
days - the temperature reached 33 degrees Celsius a little
earlier today and I was very glad that i bought an air
conditioner last year. Having said that, it is July
and you don't expect frosts and icy winds at this time of
the year. Summers seem to be getting hotter in the UK,
too. |
| 01/07/06 |
So England go out of the
World Cup at the quarter final stages once again, this time
losing to Portugal in a penalty shoot out at the end of the
game. I don't blame the players - the manager
Ericksson chose poor tactics and didn't let the players show
what they can really do. The new manager (an
Englishman) should do much better. |
| 27/06/06 |
Another trip to Berkeley
today, and for the first time I managed to make a visit
while the sun was shining. I intended to take some
photos of the region but couldn't, as I forgot to take my
camera. I managed to get myself snapped by a speed
camera on the motorway, which means a £40 fine and three
penalty points on my license. |
| 18/06/06 |
Well, no diary entries
for some time now, mainly down to lots of hard work for me,
both at work and in producing a new website with some
pictures and photos of England. Hit the Photos link on
the left to go and see it. |
| 22/05/06 |
The meeting went very
well, though I didn't appreciate having to do the 200 miles
in pouring rain for the WHOLE journey! I don't mind a
drop of rain, provided I'm sitting snugly in my living room,
and not on the M4 motorway. LOL. |
| 21/05/06 |
The usual boring weekend
for me over the last couple of days, with plenty of rain
thrown in for good measure. Next weekend is a long
weekend here in the UK, though it's interesting that we
don't get as many holidays as our continental colleagues.
Very important meeting tomorrow, meeting the UK nuclear
regulator for discussions. A 200-mile round trip too,
so lots of work for me tomorrow! |
| 15/05/06 |
I'm back from my
holidays and I had a wonderful time. The sun shone
every day but it wasn't too hot, and it was great to get
away from work for a week. I can start thinking about
my annual trip to the USA now! Today was rather hectic
at work but that's only to be expected after a week away.
Also, and even more importantly, today is Day 2 of my
experiment with a duvet on the bed instead of blankets.
The burdens of life, huh? LOL |
| 05/05/06 |
Well I'm off on my
holiday to Exmoor, via Stonehenge, in a few minutes.
I'll let you know how it went when I get back.
Finally, before I go, congratulations to Connie for her
excellent exam results at school! |
| 02/05/06 |
Had this afternoon off
and went out to take some more photographs.
Photography is becoming quite a hobby now - if only I knew
what all the buttons on my camera do. LOL.
Surprised some of my penpals (unintentionally) by saying
that I won't be writing emails on Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Saturdays any more, unless I have time on my hands. |
| 01/05/06 |
Had a lovely weekend
this weekend, plotted the first day of my holiday this
Friday, which will involve going to visit Stonehenge and
some of the other interesting ancient sites in the Salisbury
Plain area. On Sunday I went to visit the Rollright
Stones again to spend some time there and to take some more
photos. I'm very fond of the Rollright Stones as they
are a very spiritual place to be. While I was there some
kind of New Age ceremony was taking place, though I couldn't
quite hear what they were saying - perhaps I should have
asked them to speak up a bit! LOL. Yesterday was the first
day of the Celtic summer, and maybe it had something to do
with that. Anyway, it has been a really good weekend and
what's even better is that I only have a three-day working
week this week! |
| 21/04/06 |
Not much happening
today, I had the afternoon off and just spent the afternoon
and evening lazing around. I've had a tune running through
my head for much of today - Catch Us If You Can by the Dave
Clark Five - isn't that annoying when a tune is so catchy
that you can't stop thinking about it?. |
| 20/04/06 |
I was supposed to be
giving a course today, and in the end I gave it to two
people.
I think everyone else was too busy to be educated in the ways of
how to do a performance assessment of a nuclear waste
repository. Hard to understand why anyone would want
to miss such a course, don't you think? LOL.
Downloaded some great tunes this evening - I wonder how many
other wonderful tunes there are that I haven't yet heard.
Thousands, I bet. |
| 17/04/06 |
Well I had an excellent
Easter and I hope you did too! I spent much of mine
taking some new photos for this website and just chilling
out. My next work deadline is 23rd May, which
hopefully I should make with some ease. Finally, good
vibes over to Melissa's father, who isn't too well right
now. Also, good luck to Connie in pulling Brandy
through his troubles. |
| 14/04/06 |
Went out to take some
photographs today of the Uffington White Horse. The
white horse is a carving on a hill side about 15 miles from
Didcot. The weather was awful but I did manage to get
some reasonable snaps and they will appear on this website
at some stage in the not-too-distant future. I'm off
to spend the weekend with my parents, so no entries here for
a day or two! Happy Easter! |

My Easter holidays began
about lunch time today, and like most Brits, I will be on
holiday now until next Tuesday. This is a most welcome
break after busting a gut at work for the last few days.
I think that tomorrow I will go out and take some more
photos for this website, and I will spend the rest of the
long holiday putting captions to the photos already on the
site. Sounds like hard work to me ... |

Was greatly amused to
check my web logs this evening and find that someone had
surfed onto my site by searching for "pee videos" on
AltaVista. I bet this guy didn't quite get what he was
expecting! I now have all my reports finished at work
for the Easter break, and so can look forward now to a nice
long holiday weekend - most places in the UK get Friday and
Monday off as a holiday. Very nice. |

Actually I was wrong -
the next diary entry is coming up just three days after the
last one! Why this sudden burst of enthusiasm?
Well, I finished the last important report that I have to do
before Easter, and may even get in a day or two of holiday
around the Easter break! I spent this evening turning
a load of home video MPEGs into Windows Media Video format.
Why? Because it means I can store them in 4 GB of
space rather than 92 GB of space. Simply really,
though perhaps not the most interesting thing I could have
chosen to write about. LOL |

Well I guess I could use
the same first sentence for this entry as for the previous
one. Nearly two months have elapsed this time.
This is due in part to an extremely hectic work schedule
that has seen me writing reports since the beginning of the
year. It's all good fun though and helps to pay the
bills. I added a new page today, a tribute to those
who died on 9-11 and 7-7. Feel free to email me an
entry if you want. Oh well, I guess the next dairy
entry will come about June ... |

Oh dear, the time
between diary entries seems to be getting greater and
greater - over a month this time! I do have a partial
excuse as the last month or so has been exceptionally busy
at work and finding time to keep this updated has been hard.
The weather here in England is freezing at the moment, but
the days are bright and clear and very pleasant. At
work I've been very busy producing an assessment for
so-called on-site disposal. In this technology you
decommission a nuclear power station and bury the low
activity wastes in the hole that's left once the power
station buildings have been removed. Clever stuff -
and interesting too, even if it doesn't sound it! |

Wow, so it's been over a
month since I last added something to this diary - my word,
doesn't the time fly by! Well we had a very nice Xmas
visiting my brother and his family, and they prepared a
lovely Xmas dinner for us all. They gave me a bottle
of vintage port for a Xmas present and I enjoyed drinking
it, even if my head didn't the next morning! Right at
this moment I find myself very busy with work, though that
doesn't concern me too much as it's good fun. I did
make some new year's resolutions, though keeping this diary
up to date wasn't one of them! |
